Dr. Melinda Wood graduated from Texas A&M University in 2013. She always knew she wanted to work in medicine, but her direction became clear during her junior year of high school, when she realized veterinary medicine could combine her love of animals with her interests in science and problem-solving. She later pursued leadership opportunities after discovering how much she enjoyed mentoring others and helping them flourish. Dr. Wood is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) and is currently working toward her CVBL certification.
As an associate veterinarian at Sploot Veterinary Care in Denver, Dr. Wood has special interests in soft tissue surgery and dermatology. Her favorite part of working at Sploot is the work-life balance. She also appreciates Sploot’s all-in-one veterinary care, extended hours, and availability 365 days a year, which give pet parents convenient options for their pets’ care.
Outside of work, Dr. Wood enjoys spending time with her husband, knitting, cross-stitching, baking, and reading. She is also a devoted pet parent to Dingo, a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix she adopted shortly after moving to Colorado. Dingo loves his mom and dad and will happily do just about anything for a snack.
