Dr. Wiering’s Veterinary Journey
Dr. Livia Wiering graduated in 2006 from Colorado State University, but her veterinary journey began long before that. She has wanted to be a veterinarian since she was 6 years old. She shares the following about her professional journey, which reflects not only her well-rounded experience but also her love for veterinary medicine:
“I worked emergency medicine as a technician for 12 years and as a doctor for 20. I have now stepped into urgent care and general practice as well as running a nonprofit in Belize all to help animals in need.”
Today, Dr. Wiering is a dedicated veterinarian and a member of the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA), the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society (VECCS), and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Dr. Wiering’s Career & Experience at Sploot
As an Associate Veterinarian at Sploot Veterinary Care - Denver, Dr. Wiering has special interests in emergency medicine, trauma, and metabolic diseases. Her decades of emergency experience help her stay calm and steady when pets need care the most. Her favorite thing about working at Sploot is the team and culture. Working alongside people who support one another and share a commitment to great care makes each day rewarding.
She believes what makes Sploot stand out to pet parents in Denver is the clinic’s all-in-one veterinary care, daily availability with extended hours, and the SplootPack™ membership. Dr. Wiering is also a Sploot client, and she sees dental cleanings as the biggest benefit for her own pets.
Outside of Work
During her free time, Dr. Wiering loves to travel, especially internationally, and to spend time with her family, friends, and dogs. She is also an indoor skydiving instructor and a Pilates instructor. Dr. Wiering is a dedicated pet parent to two Whippets, Ivar the Boneless and Zombie. They share a breed but have adorably polar opposite personalities.
