Dr. Payne’s Veterinary Journey
Dr. Joshua Payne graduated in 2020 from Iowa State University. Medicine was part of his life from a young age, thanks to his grandmother, a nurse who worked hard to spark his interest in caring for others. He first planned to go into human medicine, but his cousin and uncle, both veterinarians in Montana, showed him how meaningful veterinary medicine could be. Growing up on a farm in Nebraska, he spent his childhood around all kinds of animals, so becoming a veterinarian was a natural fit. The career path brought together his family’s legacy of caring for others and his connection to animals. Today, Dr. Payne is a dedicated veterinarian and a member of the Colorado Veterinary Medical Association (CVMA) and the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Dr. Payne’s Career & Experience at Sploot
As an Associate Veterinarian at Sploot Veterinary Care - Colorado Springs, Dr. Payne brings that same sense of purpose to every furry companion and pet parent he meets. His favorite thing about working at Sploot is the team and culture. Working alongside people who support one another and share a commitment to great care makes each day at the clinic rewarding. He believes what makes Sploot stand out to pet parents in Colorado Springs is being open 365 days a year with extended hours, offering all-in-one veterinary care, and the SplootPack™ membership.
Outside of Work
During his free time, Dr. Payne spends a lot of time working on his jeeps and motorcycles. He’s happiest outdoors, whether he’s riding dirt bikes, jeeping, hiking, camping, or snowboarding, and he loves to travel. Dr. Payne is a dedicated pet parent to two adorable Shiba Inus named Sushi and Soba. Sushi, his 10-year-old boy, has been with him since his first year of vet school while Soba, is the youngest of the pack but definitely rules the roost.
