Dr. Marlena Perkins graduated from Midwestern University in Arizona in 2025. Her passion for veterinary medicine began with a memorable childhood experience when she discovered a kitten covered in fleas near a dumpster. Determined to help, she spent the entire night carefully removing the fleas one by one. The experience sparked her love for caring for animals and showed her how rewarding it could be to make a difference in their lives. Today, Dr. Perkins brings that same compassion and dedication to her work as a Fear Free certified veterinarian.
As an Associate Veterinarian at Sploot Veterinary Care in Chicago, Dr. Perkins has a special interest in dermatology and particularly enjoys investigating skin conditions. She finds satisfaction in diving deeper into dermatology cases, understanding the underlying causes of skin problems, and helping pets find relief. Dr. Perkins also appreciates Sploot's all-in-one approach to veterinary medicine, which allows pets to receive comprehensive care in one convenient location. She also values Sploot's extended hours and daily availability, which help make veterinary services more accessible for busy pet parents. Her favorite part of working at Sploot is the supportive and welcoming team culture. She enjoys being surrounded by colleagues who are genuinely invested in providing excellent patient care.
Outside the clinic, Dr. Perkins enjoys exploring Chicago's diverse food scene and discovering new restaurants throughout the city. At home, she is a proud pet parent to two adorable cats, Bee and Boo. Bee is an affectionate three-legged cat who loves cuddling and spending quality time. Boo, on the other hand, is a mischievous teenage cat who loves running around the house in the middle of the night before sleeping well into the afternoon.
